oopsabird asked: Hi! I heard you have good blog links for information about asexuality? Would you be willing to share some?

ohhai! My asexuality stuff mostly lives at my other blog now, which is cupcakearrow.tumblr.com but yes I do! Lots of people I reblog from there are asexual but I’ve sent you another ask with a list of people I follow who blog about asexual stuff because I’m not sure how many of them are comfortable with their usernames being in such a list publicly.

Most of these people post about things that are not asexuality - like gender and race, too, and it is important to note that I don’t always agree with their views, but their views are no less important than mine. As for information, here’s a post I wrote explaining a few things about the ace/aro communities, and an overview to the “are asexuals queer” debate which is probably out-dated by now. You can also find a lot by scrolling through my cupcakearrow blog, and clicking on various tags I haven’t bothered to catalog. You can also find a bunch of information in the main asexuality tags (asexual, asexuality, and actuallyasexual are the main ones), though be prepared to find random hate and misinformed views and trolls. The actuallyasexual tag is a lot less active but a lot more (though not entirely) safe.

I’m sorry to say that I haven’t been nearly as active in the ace community lately - I’ve had some personal issues to deal with that have made it hard for me to keep up, and sometimes the ace tags are too emotionally draining for me to be able to be active. I hope that my blog will at least be able to provide you with some of the information you’re looking for, though, and if you ever want to know if I have any links for anything specific, feel free to ask me, and I can probably come up with a more detailed answer. :)

Tumblr Asexuality Awareness Week
October 21st - 27th, 2012

There is a party of asexy pride and you are accordingly invited! Join in celebrating aces and graces! Aces, graces, and allies alike are all welcome!

You could:

  • Make a post about asexuality!
  • Post pictures of your asexy outfits and/or items!
  • Write, draw, or create asexy works of art!
  • Reblog some rad cake gifs!
  • Just enjoy being ace or the company of your ace friends!

Please spread the word and then join in on the “AAW 2012” tag October 21st-27th!

I missed this because of the new tracked tags thing, but cool, I was hoping that there’d be some sort of AAW to participate in this year since apparently they’re going with local things and…there are no local events here.

Thank you internets.

Yay! FYI everyone, I’ll be blogging about asexy stuff here and at my other blog. :)

TW: asexual erasure, feminists

Is anyone else already tired of everyone flipping out over the little scrap of 2nd century paper in which Jesus supposedly says the words, “My wife”? All of my feminist friends are spewing so much, “Well, duh, Jesus HAD to have a wife because he wouldn’t have been fully human because only soulless demons don’t want sex!” Yes, 70 million people are actually just soulless demons. Ugh. Another reason* why I officially decided today I’m coming out entirely (once I have a chance to come out to the few people who deserve a personal, one-on-one conversation). It’s mostly ignorance that makes people say such stupid things, so if being out means educating everyone around me, then I’m ready to take the ignorance head on.

I never want to endure another feminist rant about how Celibate!Jesus panders to patriarchy therefore Sexy!Jesus is the only alternative. How about Intimate!Jesus? What if we just agree that Jesus experienced and expressed intimacy and that it’s not our job to define how Jesus, or anyone else, specifically expressed or experienced that intimacy?

*The first reason being my priest was nothing but supportive when I came out today, but I’ll write about that later because it’s a happy story that deserves its own post.

Sending e-support-thoughts from another out-for-education ace. :3

Also seriously people need to stop with that “fully human” shit because it’s old and doesn’t even make sense if you read the bible passages pertaining to it. >.>

Thanks! I was especially dreading the “fully human” crap when I came out to my priest today, only it turns out I once again underestimated her ability to be unconditionally supportive and didn’t get any of it at all. I was so thrown off by her nice reaction that my brain stopped communicating to my mouth and I had to write on my phone to communicate. Which was the best reason for that problem ever.

(By the way, I totally don’t think you realise we [sort of] met before—or at least were both at FireMercs—and are FB friends and in Flying Aces and things. This sort of amuses me. It’s like knowing a really cool secret, only not.)

Your priest sounds awesome and I am totally happy for you. :D And best reason for that ever.

(Well, now I feel really stupid, and am going to try harder to keep track of FB friend’s and quidkid’s tumblr’s. I think I ahve the rest of the Flying Aces’ URLs? Or they don’t have tumblrs? I’ll do this again, I know I will. To make sure I have this straight… You were the last person to be added to Flying Aces, right?)

My priest IS awesome.

(Yes, that’s me. Don’t feel stupid though because I’ve probably never said, “Hey! This is my Tumblr!” on Facebook.)

(NOTED! Also this is my other tumblr, quidditch stuff lives here :3 )

I don’t… actually… like tea… at all… ^^’

GET OUT NOW, YOU ASEXUAL POSER. =P

Jk jk! <333

I didn’t like tea until today and actually only those two teas, because I’ve tried at least 2 dozen other teas before that were all horrible and I only like these with massive amounts of honey. Mmmmm!

So yeah, I know aces who don’t like cats and don’t watch Big Bang Theory or Doctor Who and don’t even like cake! It’s called a stereotype for a reason. :3

I’m also not that much of a fan of doctor who. ^^’

I dunno, I’ve tried a ton of teas, in three different countries, so it’s not just “American tea is gross!”.

It tastes like… stewed leaves…

I almost always wrote my characters ace, because I didn’t actually realize people *did* have those feelings. ^^’ There was one pair of characters that I wrote (ever) that were obviously not ace lol. Mostly romance didn’t factor into plot at all…

Ohh I see. I try to write outside of being ace but sometimes it’s really hard (especially when writing about sexual attraction/sex because… I don’t experience one and have (nor want) any experience with the latter)

Oh sorry, to date I’ve written *3. One was in a mixed ace/non-ace relationship, which was fun, the other was awkward and ended in a sex scene that I cut because that’s not something I can write lolol. Since I’ve found out about asexuality, I’ve made more of an effort to write non-ace characters haha.

Haha! All the aces in my novel are in mixed relationships (save for Nox as he is adamant about not being in one) but not really any sex scenes because I cannot write one for the life of me. I probably could if I tried hard but I’d be freaking out and not knowing what else to write or how to end it.

I keep it in a special, hidden folder on my computer to remind myself of the worst scene I’ve ever ever written and that nothing I write can be nearly as bad as it was lol.

Hmmmmm…. I have yet to write characters in a commited platonic relationship….

Hahah! Like I’ve done RPs that had sex in them but… It’s still very very awkward for me. Sex anything is awkward. Talking about it is awkward… I still fast-forward sex scenes when watching movies lol… IT’S AWKWARD.

I have one in my novel! And I’m very excited to write it.

Haha, maybe if I spent a bit of time reading smut or something I could write a decent one. ^^’

I remember as I was writing it I was like “How do I stop this scene?” Heehee, I wish you luck with yours!

Yeahh I don’t even read that stuff. I skip it in books too.

Thank you! :D

I tend to treat it like I do any other emotional scene: Why are they doing this, what are they feeling, and what’s gonna be the aftermath? Reading A Song of Ice and Fire series has been pretty interesting in that respect. I don’t like to skip parts so it gets slightly awkward…

Yeah I skip things which makes me uncomfortable or feel weirds. Bunch a sex scenes in this book I had to read for class last year. Skipped them all LOL. But that’s just me.

True true. I’ll just have to do the “WHAT WOULD X CHARACTER DO IN THIS SITUATION” because I can’t put myself there

If it gets too awkward I sorta skim, but never really skip. ^^’

I’ve never read your writing other than tumblr posts, but yeah. That’s what I’d do lol. And kind of did, just not very well. ^^’

I don’t post my writing lots… There’s some old things on my dA but that’s about it… I’m pretty… secretive about my things LOL

Haha it’s okay, I understand! I very rarely post my writing. ^^’

I feel like writers are very protective people lol.
